Advent and Christmastide (2024)

We were so pleased with the turnout in numbers and talent to the workshop held in November to create Chrismons for the Christmas tree erected at St. Mary's by the Norwegian Lutherans in Bergen. Some of our Orthodox Ukrainian friends whom we have come to know since 2022 were also present and with the Bergen Anglican Church consisting of many from various denominations, this was truly an ecumenical collaboration! Chrismons are decorations representing Christian symbols; angels, lambs, fish, shells, crosses, doves, stars and yes daisies, representing the purity of Jesus.

Our long-standing tradition of two services of Nine Lessons and Carols on the 3rd Sunday of Advent were well received, as usual. The choir consisting of folks from both within and without the regular church community enjoyed presenting classic, contemporary and local arrangements of this year's selection of carols. It was said the choir sang like angels. A lofty comment indeed!
